From a press release provided by Cary Hull:

For several years, the Chester Historical Society has been converting the former 1860s Griswold Mill building in an effort to create the Chester Museum at The Mill. This month, the Historical Society will host Open House Days at the in-progress museum.

“For Society members as well as other Chester residents and guests, we are planning five Open House Days in November, including the Friday after Thanksgiving Day,” says Society president Skip Hubbard. “There’s a great deal of interest in what’s been going on; a lot of people, including longtime residents, may have never even been in the building. I think they will be pleasantly surprised, both with the facility and the exhibits we are creating. We’re quite excited to finally have a place to start telling the story of Chester and to share some of this rich heritage with others. And, at last, the Society has a home.”

Open House Days will be Sundays, Nov. 15 and 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.; Saturdays, Nov. 21 and 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.; and Friday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Mill will then be closed until spring to allow the exhibits to be completed. There is no admission charge for the Open Houses. Come see for yourself the new facility and learn how the Chester Historical Society is telling the story of Chester.
