Eagles Return to Essex This Winter
By Priscilla Wood, Connecticut Audubon Society EcoTravel
Although it is our nature as New Englanders to complain about the weather it just happens to be the perfect climate for the wintering Bald Eagles. The northern regions of the Connecticut River freeze over, which means migration to the lower Connecticut River Valley for the Bald Eagles.
Although the Connecticut Audubon Society had to cancel the annual Eagle Festival for 2009 due to the poor economic climate, we know that the Eagles will not be changing their plans for the annual venture south to the Essex area for the winter season.
Connecticut Audubon Society EcoTravel will continue to provide their Annual “Eagle Viewing Boat Tours” for the 2010 season. Trips are narrated by EcoTravel staff naturalists and take place aboard RiverQuest. Departures begin Saturday February 6th and run through mid March.
