Does anyone know why the annual meeting was postponed? Employee benefits should not have changed. This should have been budgeted and exact. Why the over expenditure?

look a little deeper at the issue and why it was paid out... ask questions of your leaders... I believe there was a settlement with a former employee over some legal issues caused by the actions of the First Selectman's office. Of course the First Selectman's office won't tell you that but what else is new. Not hard to figure out, hasn't been that many former employees recently.

Actually, I saw this and contacted the First Selectman's office for clarification. I was told that it was due to higher than normal unemployment benefits being paid out that were not budgeted and also health care premium increases for new hires that were budgeted for single insurance when in fact they needed family insurance. Sounds on target. Nothing inappropriate going on here. Sounds like the upcoming meeting is one you should attend so you can get information first hand instead of speculating.
